  Fall Overseeding:

Fall is the best time to seed fescue lawns. Here are some simple steps to ensure the best possible results.

1. Measure the area to be overseeded to determine how much seed to purchase.
2. Mow your lawn to a height of 2 inches and remove the clippings.
3. Choose a quality grass seed such as Green Alliance three-way fescue blend. Inexpensive seed is no bargain; it often contains weed and other crop seeds that are difficult or impossible to remove once established.
4. Seed should be incorporated into the soil for good germination. The best way to accomplish this is by renting a verticut machine or having our crew overseed dethatch for you. During this process the machine cuts shallow grooves in your lawn to create a bed for the new seed. Mark all of your sprinkler heads to avoid damage from the verticutter or overseeder
5. Go over your lawn in at least two directions with the verticutter.
6. Apply Ferti-lome New Lawn Starter or winterizer.
7. Keep the seed moist until the grass is established. This is best done with frequent short watering. If new seed is allowed to dry out it will die.
8. After the new seed has been up for 30 day fertilize again only with Ferti-lome Winterizer.
